The SIDA III – Entrepreneurship and SME Training Program is part of the broader SIDA III multi-sectoral resilience initiative, designed to strengthen youth-led livelihoods and enhance the resilience of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Somaliland and Puntland. Implemented by HarHub and Shaqodoon under the SOMREP framework, the program promotes inclusive economic participation, income diversification, and sustainable enterprise growth, with a strong focus on youth, women, and marginalized groups.
The program was implemented across Hargeisa, Burao, Garowe, and Bosaso, attracting 1,010 applications from aspiring entrepreneurs and existing SMEs. A total of 250 participants completed structured entrepreneurship and SME development training covering business ideation, financial literacy, marketing, and strategic business planning. Participants also received tailored mentorship to strengthen business models, improve financial management, and enhance market readiness.
To support business growth and access to finance, the program facilitated sales pitching and financial linkage opportunities, enabling selected participants to connect with financial institutions and partners for grant and interest-free loan support, contributing to new business creation and SME expansion.
